Tulsa Zoo
Set inside the beautiful 280 acre Mohawk Park, the Tulsa Zoo is one of the top rated zoos in the region and a true point of pride for our community. It is home to more than 3,000 animals representing nearly 400 species, and the grounds are spacious, well maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. The zoo is fully accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, which is a meaningful standard of quality in animal care and visitor experience.
One of my favorite sections is the tropical rainforest dome, an immersive indoor exhibit that transports you to a lush jungle environment complete with free flying birds, monkeys, and exotic plants. The children's discovery area is perfect for younger visitors, with interactive elements, a petting zoo, and a splash pad that is a lifesaver during Oklahoma's warm summer months. The zoo also hosts seasonal events throughout the year, from Zoo Lights during the holidays to summer concert series. It is consistently rated one of the best family outings in Tulsa, and I agree completely.
Tulsa Drillers at ONEOK Field
Minor league baseball in downtown Tulsa is one of the best family entertainment values in the city. The Tulsa Drillers, the Double A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, play at ONEOK Field, a beautiful ballpark that consistently ranks among the best minor league venues in the country. The atmosphere is energetic but relaxed, the ticket prices are affordable, and the experience is designed with families in mind.
Beyond the baseball itself, ONEOK Field offers a splash pad, a playground area for kids, and a wide range of family friendly food options that go beyond standard ballpark fare. Game nights frequently feature postgame fireworks, theme nights, and special promotions that make each visit feel unique. It is the kind of venue that attracts national touring acts you would normally have to travel to Dallas or Kansas City to see.
For families, the BOK Center is a go-to destination for events that appeal to all ages. Disney on Ice is a perennial favorite with young children, while concerts and family shows draw older kids and teenagers. The arena is modern, clean, and easy to navigate, with plenty of dining options nearby in the Greenwood District and downtown restaurants. Having a venue of this caliber in Tulsa means families do not have to travel far for world class entertainment, and that is a major advantage of living here.
Cox Business Convention Center
Connected to the BOK Center by a climate controlled skywalk, the Cox Business Convention Center is Tulsa's hub for major community gatherings, trade shows, expos, and large scale family events. Throughout the year, the convention center hosts everything from home and garden shows to bridal expos, comic cons, and cultural festivals that bring the community together.
What I appreciate about the Cox Business Convention Center is how it anchors downtown Tulsa's event ecosystem. A family can park once and spend an entire day moving between the convention center, the BOK Center, and the surrounding restaurants and attractions. It is one of those features that makes Tulsa feel like a much larger city, giving families access to the kind of events and gatherings you expect in a major metropolitan area, all within a walkable downtown footprint.

What stands out to me most about Tulsa's family attractions is not just their quality, though that is impressive on its own.
